I paid a visit to the US Open practice round today at Merion Golf Club. Whether you will be attending or watching in your own home, I promise you this course is set up to provide us with plenty of excitement and a journey into the history of the game of golf. More importantly, it should provide us with another classic US Open Championship.
Some people believe the rain and below-average total yardage(by US Open standards) will lead to professionals dominating one of the most historic golf courses in the world. I am hear to tell you that will not happen, and this course will provide a tough test for the best players in the game. The nasty rough, narrow fairways and fast greens will challange players on every hole. The Par 3’s will play long and difficult, 3 of 4 Par 3’s are over 230 yards. And finally the difficulty of the last two holes(17th Par 3 250 yards, 18th Par 4 520 yards) will set up for a dramatic finish come Sunday.
This is a classic spot to hold a major championship and we are excited what Merion has in store for everyone this Fathers Day Weekend.
